We are a bipartisan coalition of individuals and groups who believe the best way to build public safety and stability in Georgia is to ensure that currently and formerly incarcerated people become rehabilitated and are put on a path to success. The best way to accomplish this is by meaningfully improving our state probation system.
Passing evidence-based, commonsense probation reforms can make our communities safer and reduce the number of adults under community supervision. We know this from experience.
In 2021, lawmakers passed SB 105, a bill that improved Georgia’s probation policies. SB 105 aims to reduce our prison population, save taxpayer dollars, and make the state safer for all Georgians. The bill simplifies and consolidates the processes for early termination of probation and will impact tens of thousands of people.
Why is this work so important? Georgia has the highest number of people on supervision in the entire country. This overburdened system costs taxpayers $193 million each year – that’s money that can be reinvested in programs that reduce crime rates and can actually improve public safety.
Join us as we advocate for more policies that improve probation in Georgia for the benefit of our families, communities, and state economy. We need your help!
